Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits Celebrates

National Volunteer Week

Annual National Volunteer Week, led by AmeriCorps, recognizes volunteers for their contributions

[PHOENIX, AZ] – This week the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits celebrates National Volunteer Week to honor the enduring contributions of volunteers and encourage all Americans to discover their own power to make a difference. The volunteers with the Alliance AmeriCorps VISTA Team provide invaluable services to the many rural communities they serve in across Arizona.

Whether volunteering multiple times a week, once a month, or somewhere in between, volunteers make a positive impact and bring local communities together. The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits is grateful for the generosity and commitment of volunteers that serve in our rural communities as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. “Volunteerism makes a significant impact on Arizona’s ability to meet so many local needs. Join us in thanking the volunteers who make our mission a reality,” AmeriCorps.

AmeriCorps research shows that volunteers engage with their communities at higher rates than non-volunteers. They morefrequently talk to neighbors, participate in civic organizations, attend public meetings, discuss local issues with family and friends, do favors for neighbors, and vote in local elections. Volunteers donate to charity at twice the rate as non-volunteers.

To join the celebration, follow @AmeriCorps on FacebookTwitterInstagram, and LinkedIn. For long-term, short-term, or just one time, volunteer opportunities use the AmeriCorps Volunteer Search, powered by VolunteerMatch, to find an opportunity near you.
